The tank will assist but not solve the problem, the amount of air delivery will be too low for most air tools, rattle guns, air rachets etc need around 10cfm to run - the smaller units just can't produce that, the tank will assist but just work harder to keep filling the tank, once the tank is empty the tools won't run till it is nearly full

G'day,
You really do need a decent size compressor. If You feel creative, there's always the option that I've used before:
When I had three phase, I got a BIG compressor from a shopping centre aircon, plumbed it up to am old hot water service, and et viola! Total cost was about $25, because I had to buy a pressure gauge.
Otherwise, just go buy a decent compressor, they're reasonably cheap these days.
BoffinA man who thinks that it can't be done shouldn't interrupt a man who's doing it........

G'day Mirage1
If you are running just a rattle gun or ratchet a 10cfm will do the job
For tools that are constantly running, say die grinders, sanders, you will need to have at least a 15cfm or bigger
Also a 2 or 3 cylinder pump will keep up better than a single clyinder pump as it delivers a more constant load of air
Make sure you keep the intake filters clean as well cause if there dirty they slow the intake of air as well
One way to improve the air intake is to remove the tiny little intake filters and mount a car or ride on mower air filter setup which will also quieten the compressor down a little as well cause it not be trying to suck air thru a little 1/2" hole
Cheers DJ
