    Default Forklift woes

Sometime ago I had a post about replacing the petrol engine in a forklift with a diesel.
Well still trying to locate a working replacement diesel that does not have any electronics in the fuel system.
I located one of the major problems with the petrol engines ignition system , one night I had to start it and had the engine cover up so that I could connect the battery leads.

I was standing on the same side as the distributor and coil , noticed a short blue spark occasionally when cranking , back whenever a "mechanic " had replaced the coil , this person had overtightened the clamp on the coil that much that the outer case had deformed to the extent of cracking and over a period of time insulation had broken down .

Just another case of heavy handed idiots at work.

Replaced the coil and now it will start easier but its still getting a transplant as soon as I locate a decent perkins or kuboto diesel.
Have found a few which the owners wanted almost new price for a pile of scrap.
Will keep looking , as I want to keep this machine as it can be operated without height issues in my building and yard.

So buy a new engine. Boats use small kubotas so they have to be available.

PDW, I have been informed of a newish Kubota , I am contacting the seller tomorrow.

I will try to make the swap as modular as possible so that it is easier maintenance when the time comes.

Last time you said you bought a Toyota Diesel engine, how come that didn't end up going in?

The head was cracked and coolant had leaked into 2 cylinders , more costly to repair than I wanted to spend .
