Motor should still deliver same power so it should be able to do the same work.
Lets say RPMs double and torque halves, but work rate (HP) stays the same
This means it will only be able to make cuts at half the depth but feed speed can be theoretically doubled.

So, basically the same time to do the job, but a better finish from the carbide thanks to the extra speed?

    I'm different from most.

I use inserts and HSS and 99.9% of the time turn at 420rpm from thin material to the largest I can chuck up in my 5 1/2 chuck. Be it steel, stainless, brass, aluminium, copper etc etc

I use my lathe daily for hours. I get a mirror finish on everything.
