OT. Any one used these Steam Cleaners?
I need to clean the carpets and was referred to this: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/13-in-1-...g3h0at45ovalSw
It should be able to clean my machines as well!

I had one some years ago, the steam stream is not that big, but it did work great around the house.
Never used it on machines, my worry would be adding water onto machines creates rust.Using Tapatalk

I had one and gave it away, for cleaning carpets other than normal daily use, completely useless (vacuum is better), for machinery use I would suspect it would be even more useless the pressure on these things is not existent

I've had better results using a hired Rug Doctor (from Bunnings) than a steam cleaner although this was a while ago and perhaps the stem cleaners have improved.
It depends on your situation.
Rug Doctors are bulky and noisy and takes bit of practice to get used to it without dumping too much water on the carpet, but are better for large open areas and very dirty carpets (our living room floor is wooden floor boards covered with a large carpet that had a brown stains all over it where the dogs had chewed away on dirt/buried manky fatty bones leaving greasy residues on the carpet and the Rug doctor got them out completely) The Dr uses a rotary brush that sounds like it gonna tear your carpet apart but it doesn't and allows the detergent and water to get right down into the dirty fibres and lift the dirt out.
I'd be a bit worried about using it on really delicate carpets although it dd a really good job on a cheap turkish rug that I thought might fall to pieces but its OK.
Wand type steam cleaners are lighter and easier to use and get around and under furniture although the Rug Rd can be hired with a wand as well.
The Rug Dr does use a lot of water so it takes a long time to dry even in summer. Ours took 24 hours to dry in summer and twice as long when we did it in cooler weather - now might not be as good a time to use one.
The second time I used it I spent a lot of time going over the wet carpet with the just the vacuum side running to pick up any excess water and that speeded things up by a few more hours.
With the Dog stained carpet I went over and over it with fresh water and detergent about 7 times each time it extracted decreasing amounts of dirty water an oil spots floating in it. I was very impressed.
It also did a good job on the sofa the dogs tend to sneak onto occasionally at night.
The steam type worked fine in the bedroom and on surface stains but it did make much of a dent on the deep greasy stains on the living room carpet

We bought a Bissell carpet cleaner, works wonders used it in a number of houses over many years easier and more convenient than the hire units from supermarkets.
Those small machines may do for spot cleaning but you will be re-filling it many times for large areas.

Thanks for the info guys. I mainly want to clean the carpet(s) so I'll order the Ebay one. The Bissell type are a bit too expensive for my pocket.

I borrowed one of these from a friend when we moved out of a rental in our own home. Carpet cleaning not required as we didn't have pets, but gee it did a good job.

Thanks Dave, your suggestion sounds (looks?) a better one so I've just sent for one. I'll see how good it is next week!
