    Default Hydraulic vice fluid

    Hi All,

I want to give this hydraulic vice a service. Does anyone know how do I top up the fluid and what fluid is suitable for it? There are 2 bolts to hold it in the body and a small M6 bolt in the opposite end with a copper washer, I am wondering if this is the bleed hole?

    Thanks,
    Trong

I don't know how to bleed it unfortunately but any 40 to 60 ish hydraulic oil will be fine, I buy mine in barrels from Supercheap.

I just had a go at at, the piston appears to be a 10mm rod in diameter, there is some fluid left inside so I am hoping the seal is still good. I still need to find a way to take the main main screw apart and I have no clue yet! There is another secondary screw inside with finer thread pitch, that is to push the rod against the piston of the hydraulic.

    Regards,
    Trong

I am using 68 and it seems to work. I had this vice for 8-9 years and I never knew that it was possible to adjust the jaw opening in 3 positions. I even bought a bigger vice just to swap out for anything that didn't fit in it. I glad that I gave it a service.
