The only part im missing it a small arm the holds a couple more gears to transmit power to the cross slide, theres a tiny worm wheel in the cross slide handwheel which drops in and out of mesh. The parts I need are on ebay UK right now but just dont have the spare spondulics. Also you have to swap in different telescoping drive rods depending on how close to the chuck you are, its very like the Schaublin powered compound on some 102's and 70's
And yeah you can have X and Z feed in milling mode, so long as you dont move the Y axis, every time you move Y the change gears come out of mesh. So if you want Y effectively you cannot use the feeds, a bit limiting.

Wonder if BaronJ could help out by going there and getting some dimensions etc, to mke your own? Or if he knows someone with one to copy?

That's a 500 to 600 mile round trip for John to do that.
I've emailed the seller and asked for some more photos and some dimensions. See what happens. It looks to be a straight transfer box (that is, shaft in, through gears and then out). In this day and age of the interweb there may even be details or parts diagrams out there.

Thanks guys, I do actually have a basic set of photos and drawings, and I think that seller is in the yahoo group for these things. There are a lot of limitations with how the feed train works so I think I'm going to go for a stepper motor as an independent feed.
I really appreciate the help though!!
