    Default Sewing machine tractors

I thought that some of these were clever and fun to look at the different ideas .............

    sewing machine tractors

Cannot remember how I stumbled across them - think it was google being clever and making suggestions or advertising after some of my searches.

I learnt something today there are people in the world that make model tractors from sewing machines.

I had no idea these existed.

There are probably sewing machine collectors (I think we have couple on the forum) who just wince when they see potentially rare machines 'converted' like that. Amazing what people will come up with though.

    Hi,

Great find. I really like the idea. People can make things out of anything. Now I'm going to keep an eye out for one.

Google and Pinterest have plentiful pics but thats USA mainly..the idea was common, several years back.

How difficult they will be to locate in Australia now and prices that will asked, are questions that need to be asked.

Up here, those I did find were regarded as antiques and the money asked was way over the top.

Mom had Singer on a cast base with a treadle. My sister will inherit that as she is into those sorts of things.

I did the rounds of church recycle stores and found only plastic bodied SM's - not suitable at all.

Hopeful down south with a higher population base you may find them.

You can pick up a metal sewing machine, non collectable for $20 around SA they are a plague every where so much so that at estate auctions they regularly get passed in
I have a sort after model and that is a very different situation.

    Hi Guys,

In New York USA, York UK and other cities, there are several clothing shops and café’s that use sewing machines as window and wall displays from floor to ceiling. I do recall thinking "how many rare ones in that lot", I've seen names on some of them I've never heard of !

    Thanks for that info.
At least people who wish to make them have clue where to start looking.

I've got my eye out but all the ones in Sydney are either overpriced or in really good condition and I don't think I could bring myself to destroy them.
