Default Availability of 7/8 X 14 UNF round stock--

    HI everyone,
I am hoping to be able to buy about 500mm of Imperial threaded stock in steel 7/8 X 14 UNF
Does any still exist in Australia?
I don't have any way of turning an imperial thread, and what's more my tradesman ship in that area leaves a bit to be desired.
I will appreciate any suggestions please
    regards
    Brian'

Do you need it threaded the whole length?

CW--I need pieces about 70mm long (sorry 2 3/4 inches) threaded the whole length. I could cut them from bolts, now you jogged my thinking.
Any ideas where i could buy them?/

Thanks for the heads up on Google, who is often my friend, but $116 is a little too rich for the value of the job, Im sorry. It's just me messing about with some ideas
    regards

You may be better off going to a specialist fastener store and asking for 7/8" UNF studs, 3" long

A few years back our local fastener shop had imperial UNF sizes up to 1" x 36" in all thread rod.

+1 for united fasteners. At work we find they are the best for larger imperial fasteners. You wont be able to buy just 500mm. you will have to buy a 3ft length.

If you really get stuck i can offer to source the stock (assuming 7/8" is a stock size) in bright and thread and cut to size.

If its not standard BMS I would need to know what type of steel and also the class of thread you want.

You would just have to pag for the material and postage from melbourne.

I just priced some 7/8" round bar in bright from my local steel supply and it's $13.50 per metre. I forgot to ask if that included GST so it may end up $14.85 incl GST but either way it's not too expensive in the quantities you need.

I have 7/8" 1045 round at Laidley 4341, I can spare enough for your project if that helps. Cutting a 14tpi thread in 70mm lengths is possible, pm me.

Thank you all--everybody for your kind support
Thanks Bob for your generous offer for help.

Ive put the project on hold for the immediate present. I may need to follow this up in a month or two.

In the mean time I got myself stumped trying to source a few 3 inch (75mm) lengths of 5/8 inch X 26 TPI in MS (which I have been told is a British Brass Thread by the ancient "Toolie" in the village.

    Any suggestions Brains Trust??
    warmest regardsd

That one you may have to make. I can't see a modern fastener supplier stocking that one. You might try
    https://www.classicfasteners.com.au/
and see what they can find (or know of)
