Thanks Bob for your generous offer for help.

Ive put the project on hold for the immediate present. I may need to follow this up in a month or two.

In the mean time I got myself stumped trying to source a few 3 inch (75mm) lengths of 5/8 inch X 26 TPI in MS (which I have been told is a British Brass Thread by the ancient "Toolie" in the village.

    Any suggestions Brains Trust??

Without knowing what it has to do or fit, not really.

However if it was my problem I'd be looking *really* closely at what the actual use-case was for that particular thread, and ditching it for something standard if at all possible. UNF for example.

I found this on a British fastener supplier's website. Note the last sentence. If it's a British brass thread, and even in Britain you have to special order it, I'd say your chances of finding it in mild steel are virtually non-existent.

    BRITISH STANDARD BRASS

    BRASS THREADS (British Standard Brass)
Because brass tubing has a uniform wall thickness, irrespective of the tube diameter, any thread cut on, (or in) it, would
have to have the same depth, so 26 tpi is standard on all diameters. An example would be the thread cut on the brass
trumpet horns of the 30s cars, although many were die-cast rather than brass. If it were 1" O/D, the thread would be 1"
    Brass, 26tpi.

BSB has a 26 TPI pitch through the whole range and is often confused with BS Cycle thread the difference being that brass thread has an angle of 55 degrees whereas Cycle is 60 degrees. Brass threads are usually confined to fittings and adjusters on cables.
Brass thread taps and dies are sold and advertised as 26 tpi and are identified by the letters BSB.

These are a special order item.

    Thanks Jack
I think that is a good heads up that Im not going to achieve anything useful
I guess I will have to set about sorting this out from another angle
My intention was to knock up a simple seating die to fit a super simplex reloading press for an outdated calibre where I may (or may not) decide to load a few (very few) rounds to try out
Not worth the cost of buying dies on ebay

I've got one of those somewhere and a bunch of dies etc for it. If you want, send me a PM and if I can find the stuff I'll take a look at what I have. You never know - I used to be into antiques and reloading a couple decades back.
