Info on my late fathers Lathe please.
Hi everyone.
I am after some info on my late fathers lathe. He passed away before I could find out much about it, and now we need to sell it.
So any help with models etc as well as a rough selling price, would be greatly appreciated.
He had a price, well what he thought it was worth, and i'm not sure how accurate it is.
Many thanks
Craig

It is a lathe similar to the Hercus model C. No power feeds, no quick change gear box, which would limit it's desirability.
Sheraton's were probably superior to Hercus in build quality when they were being made, but these days it is all about condition and features as they are all used machines.
No idea on price. Condition and location and what someone is willing to pay. If I had to guess and if is in good order possibly between $500 and $1000.Gold, the colour of choice for the discerning person.

Thanks for the info so far. It's appreciated.
He has both 3 and 4 jaw chucks, + numerous other things in the cupboard underneath. (I don't know what most are even for).
He had a value of $2k written down in a book, so that's the figure I was working off.
Thanks again

I agree with RC's estimate, closer to the upper end if its in reasonable condition , or the other way if it has wear.

No way it's worth $2K.
RC's pricing is about right. In addition to the features it doesn't have, it also has plain headstock bearings. Nothing wrong with them per se but it does limit the top speed possible from the machine.
I sold a Hercus of the same configuration some years back for $250 IIRC. That was a bit on the cheap side but I got it for free and wanted it gone to a good home, being considerably oversupplied with lathes at the time.
