As all good stories begin, I know a guy...
He was at work. His work mate was working under a suspended load which was supported by a forklift, and in the process of being rigged up to the gantry crane.
This guy turned when he heard an irregular noise - the load had shifted, and slid free of the supporting chains. The workers head was crushed, and old mate had the pleasure of seeing this guys head pop like a pimple.
Say what you want, but if it comes down to me telling someone to look out for themselves and be safe, or potentially have to see this vision in my dreams each and every night... you're damn sure I'm going to say something.
Life was definitely too short for that 30-something year old guy.

Well that escalated quickly. We went from wearing gloves while grinding, to standing under a load and having your head caved in.

Just let that sink in for a while.
Maybe one day you'll get it.
I hope you do.

This thread isn't about the workplace. It's about unsafe practices seen online. I just don't see the point in getting worked up about a Youtube video. It's a waste of heartbeats.

The purpose of my post was to promote safe practice solely in relation to DIY Metalworkers. Many new starters are influenced by the how to do it aspect of it and therefore consult platforms like U tube and similar.
The thing is, too many with limited experience create a post and put it online. With this there is a risk that some poor safety procedure that they have performed may be copied by a beginner with even less experience and result in serious harm. I would be appalled if I posted a Utube and some poor bugger got injured as a result of something I had demonstrated.
We as metalworkers have the capacity to get entangled with many of the power tools we use.
I believe it is a responsible thing to point genuine hazards to beginners who visit our Forum/s or even some experienced folk whose metal's tool safety performances might be less than perfect. Of course if they take notice or not ,it is up to them.
In the end if we only make one person stop and review the way he/she tackles the procedure,we have done well.
Lets try to stick on topic please. Its about Metalwork on U tube.
Please do not let it turn into a bunfight, or it will get shut down.

Sounds like you may be a fan of his Mike.
Chuck puts himself forward as an expert and takes on paid welding and fabrication work. I am all for people having a go and learning as they go, however Chuck is in a different category as he charges for his services while having little idea.

No I am not a fan ,far from it but I do not see why its ok to blast some one , (be they a proper trades person or a self taught ) when most of their work is alright and if they get paid well so be it.
Many here will agree that there are a growing number of people who cannot even change a tyre let alone make something from materials purchased for a project.
I am often asked to fix the messes made by people who "fixed " their gear.

This is the opposite to an unsafe work practice.
When American Restoration was being shown on Free to Air TV, it always struck me the leading guy, Rick Dale always wore safety glasses. Did not mater whether he was in his shop or on the road, always had safety glasses.

Hi RC.
Thanks for bringing us up to date.
Wisely RC has not gone any further.
The subject matter of ChuckE2009's Utube needs to remain there on UTube not here on our Forum.
If you are curious, for sure! check it out yourself keep it to your self or talk about it with your mates Please! do not discuss it here.
If it is brought here I will have to take very swift and harsh action.
Nuff said ?

Well, you did ask for examples of unsafe practices seen online (YouTube presumably), which does lead in certain directions.
YouTube will also be the source of numerous examples of grinders without guards wielded by primarily American YouTubers. Are we not to name the channel involved?
Definitely not seeking a bun fight, only clarification of the rules of engagement.
