Tru-grip chuck??
Anyone seen one of these Tru-grip chucks before?
Taper is NT40, there's a small center piece inside the body and looks like there should be some type of collet to go with it.

Tru-grip chuck??
I can't find anything about it online, and its a weird design. The taper on the body would tend to spread a collet, so I'm assuming its not relevant to the clamping.
When you screw the nut on fully there is still a gap between the body taper and the nut taper, so I'm guessing the collet might have looked something like this in section:

I suspect the centre in the bottom is not for the collet, but rather as a stop for the tool so you can take it out for sharpening and put it back at the same depth to avoid having to reset your Z-axis mid job.
I found this pic of various collet styles including some old/obsolete ones, perhaps it's an E (as opposed to ER)

Hi Guys,
It reminds me of the "Autolock" tool holder, particularly with the centre pin. It probably would work in a similar way ! With the right collets of course.Best Regards:

Clarkson chuck. I think was the first and should give plenty search hits.
Uses threaded shank milling cutters

P.s. the collet is threaded. The cutter screws through the collet, hits the center, forcing the collet towards to nut and this locks everything up

Definitely not a Clarkson autolock as they have a lugged base on the collet that is larger diameter than the body. This Tru-Grip has a parallel internal diameter for most of the way, then relieved slightly larger at the base where the center part is located.
Also not an E collet as they have a tapered body.
I agree that the center is more likely to be a stop for the tool than the collet though.

The collet and a chuck, though I don't think that the collet fits that chuck.Best Regards:

I had one of those mounted on an R8 shank for a chinese made mill drill toy. Granted, the mill drill was a complete POS, but I was not a fan of the collet chuck either. I could never get endmills to register on centre in the chuck, forever cutting a flute a lot heavier than the others. I ditched it for a chinese made ER32 collet and it was lightyears ahead of it. Then someone stole it and...well...I wasnt exactly upset to see it gone...
