Those little Russian lathes have a good reputation. The bed is super solid for their size.

Good little lathe. I've had one for some time and used it a fair bit. Built like a battleship!! I tried to sell it on this page but got no real interest apart from a couple of tyre kickers, so I have decided to keep it!!
Best of luck!!
cheers

New acquisition
Sorry for the delay. The only marks on mine are what looks like a makers name, pretty much unreadable. However, in the manual it says the drive belts are " V belt Z(0) - 500 mm "
No idea where to get them, but knowing the Russians they will be a standard metric belt. So I would be tempted to start with a google search, or the yellow pages.
Best of luck!!
cheers

Hi Bill,
Try these guys:Adelaide Belt and HoseABH Home
They're in Mile End,very helpful, have dealt with them on many occasions.Probably best if you take the old belts with you, they will be able to match them up

I managed to order the belts from RS Components at a good price. Z 515 cos they didn't have 500's. I think they should fit ok.
The problem with this machine is that the motor shaft is a bit worn where it fits into its pulley and the keyway is flogged out. The vibration from this wobbly pulley was ridiculous. There's a long screw that secures the pulley to the shaft and I think it might have been loose.
I'll be seeing a guy tomorrow about the repairs. I think maybe braze over the end of the shaft ready to machine it back to size also fill in the keyway and cut a new one on the other side.
Will see what he reckons tomorrow.

The Z515 belts were no good, they're too long.
RS Components have a picture on the page for this belt and it shows the belt with the number 530 on it. I assumed the picture is generic, but not so.
The belts I received are actually 530. I later found out RS use an inside measurement, that's weird. Anyway I ordered the next size down which they have marked as 480. We'll soon see.

Ohh what a sweet little machine.
I need to keep my eyes open for one since with age I am obliged to start thinking of downsizing in preparation for moving some day.

Finished making a stand for it the other day.
Can't see it here because of the table but it has black 3D printed feet that have an angled bottom face to level it up on the sloping floor. (Left legs 10mm, right legs 3mm high).
Last thing to do here is fit a baking tray under the lathe to stop any rubbish dropping through onto the shelf.
I had a little fiddle with it today on a piece of al bar. With a HSS cutter I knocked up, it will turn with a really nice finish and produce soft strands of swarf finer than hair.
