Hey, thanks for that info. Looks good.

They're just down the road from me.

    I will check them out.

    Cheers

The worst that can happen is you will fail.
    But at least you tried.

I think the problem with the plastic sprayers is the o rings inside them are not made of material capeable of withstanding exposure to solvents like kero.
The Inox, WD40 and Wurth bottles are the only ones I've found that last with oils and kero. In the past, when I've asked for the Inox or WD40 ones I've been told they are only supplied with the 5lt bulk product bottles, which is how I got the ones I have. The Wurth ones are available individually but are a bit expensive.

An option I plan to try at some point is an old Moffat & Virtue Pest Arrestor, these have leather washers and should be impervious to most solvents you would want to spray around.
Google them and you will get a few links to overpriced specimens from trendy collector shops but you will get the idea and they can be picked up at garage sales or junk shops for less than $10.00.
    Cheers,
    Greg.

Used for priming liquid fuel stoves.
No problems with Kero or meths...

I have made my own buy punching a small hole (not drilled ) & soldering on an old tyre valves onto the top side of a used carb clean can or wd40 (elecrtic iron no flame) take the valve out use a small home made funnel fill through valve with half atf/kero or what ever valve back in and about 40psi works well .

I'll have to give this a try, I wonder if a tubless rubber valve would seal as I have a a few, maybe soldering a washer on to make up the thickness of a car rim.

a nice way to punch in the hole is with a lathe dead center .Just tap it on the top of the can just to the side of the spray fitting far enough away to not damage it and the heat from the solder wont damage the plastic valve .It will form a nice vee hole to solder the valve into

    Hi Bob,
I take it what you are looking for a chemical resistant spray bottle possibly from these people.

As soon as I have an empty can I'll try it. Have you tried large fly spray type cans?

I remember being told never to clean bearings with kero because it was an abrasive. That was so long ago I can't remember who told me. Anyway, I never use the stuff to clean anything.

It was a big no no to use kero to clean machines, kero is used as the carrier fluid for lapping cast iron, petrol works well also.
The reason for not using kero to clean your lathe with kero is that if it gets under your saddle it will mix with grit under there and lap your lathe.
Sure, it wont lap much off at first but over a few years.....this was pretty well known by all the old machinists.
The machines ways were only ever wiped with an oily rag.
Kero was also never used to clean hydraulic components.

OK, so you're not saying that Kero is "an abrasive". I'm glad we settled that.

Graham sorry for the confusion and the waste of yout lunchtime.
What l should have said is kero will be become very abrasive if mixed with grit, in other words the grit will become much more abrasive if it gets kero in it.
    cheers shed
