I know of 2 of these machines, one is/was owned by a friend that I think moved to another state and I've lost contact with him and the other lives not far from me. I have used it a few times some years back before I acquired my own machinery. Like most combination machines it sounds good in theory but one needs to plan the sequence of operations involved in a project or you can find your self setting up for turning then for milling and then back for turning.
The milling cutter holders are 3M taper and have no draw bar they are held in by a nut similar to an Arboga drill/mill, the cutters are secured in the holder with a grub screw which means a flat needs to be ground on the cutter shank. The friend that moved gave me the 4 of the holders that I still occasionally use in my Arboga.

How did you find it for rigidity?

I have 4 milling holders but not the nut. I don't suppose you have a photo of the nut?

    Regards

I saw one of those at a auction a few years ago. Must have had every attachment and the cabinet was full of tooling. Went for about $2000. I didn’t realise they were made in Adelaide. Have precision grinding shut down yet?

Precision Grinding still operate as a one man show. I have had a few things surface ground there recently.

Unfortunately I can't help - my mate has one of the very early examples with out the extra milling head - to use as a mill the head stock needs to be turned so it is vertical, the cutter being held in the 3 jaw chuck. I am calling around there tomorrow on another matter so I'll have a look anyway.
I can't recall how rigid it was - at the time it was early days for me as far as machining went - I was a bit hesitant to try and remove to much metal so it was light cuts only.
