I think the general consensus is they are too small to do any real work but if you have no other alternative then with enough patience you can do some work with them.
Are you looking at that size due to weight / size restrictions or budget ?
What kind of work are you planning to do with it ?

Hi
Thank you for reply
Firstly
Need a drive belt that goes between the motor and pully
I have spent days scouring the internet and also with pulleys and such in hand visited local supplies who have said not available due to an unavailable pitch.
The original belt disintegrated.
I was then thinking of molding the lathe with a bad and three phase but I then need a belt to drive the pully set even then I will need something other than the original.
Secondly
Space
Dimensions of where the lathe will fit
Home 5m x 5 m garage with fixed benches and such limited in size lathe. Nice to go a bit bigger
The original qc6125 fitted nicely
Am aware lot of the small stuff is of a similar likeness. Still deciding
All best

Hi Keiron,
Toothed belts are not expensive at all ! I find it hard to believe that you can't find or get one, if not locally then via the many places on the Internet.
I needed a toothed belt recently and this company "www.bearingboys.co.uk" bent over backwards to assist me in getting the right toothed belt. It only cost £3.55p UK. Made by "Dunlop". I would go and have a look at their web site. I also got a matching pulley from them, also made by "Dunlop".

hi there Baron J and BJS
thanks for tips, will follow up
also looking at getting rear of pully perhaps remachined and replace the driving pully on the motor. The pully set is a set of three v, s with timing belt splines machined on rear. the pully on the motor shaft is only 28mm diameter, too small for other than a timing belt drive.
will see what comes up.
If able to get the timing teeth recut will go for 5mm pitch, and will have to work out new appropriate diameter and suitable length belt. I believe there are calculators on line
regards

Hi Keiron,
Post some pictures of the pulley arrangement and maybe a measurement of the tooth width and spacing.
The "V" belt should be quite straightforward to find.
As far as recutting the teeth, there are quite a number of variations in tooth width and spacings. 5.08 mm just happens to be the one that was correct for my machine. Indeed the motor shaft pulley on my machine is only 25.5 mm OD.Best Regards:
Baron J.
