Thread: Off centre drilling--lathe

Many don't look at the other problem with the tailstock for drilling problems. An old lathe where operators don't lubricate the tailstock ways thus heavy wear results in the tailstock being below centre. A new lathe can also have the tailstock above centre by an excessive amount out of tolerance. Both give the same problems as a tailstock being off centre.
