Brierley drill bit grinder cams
BaronJ's neat countersunk drill sharpening jig (see his thread, running now - //metalworkforums.com/f65/t2023...sharpening-jig)
reminds me of the incomplete Brierley twist drill grinder I have here.
The thing that prevents it being used is the lack of the cams, needed to generate the drill point shapes.
They are not easy to find.
Does anyone have a Brierley?
If some dimensions could be obtained, maybe I could have a go at making the cams, or at least one of them.
Alternatively, a lead to existing cams for sale would be great.

Hi Jordan,
If you can't get the cams for your Brierley, I can recommend this
https://www.gadgetbuilder.com/DrillSharp.html#Facet4
I've built one, and I'm very happy with it !
I only have one issue, if you are drilling brass or alloy, and pick up the wrong drill, they are so sharp, it will grab. I keep a number of drills just for brasses and alloys with the edge stoned off.Best Regards:
Baron J.

Hi Jordan
you are probably aware of this but it isn't that the drill is too sharp but that it has a positive rake.
Brass should be machined with a neutral rake and so the rake is stoned off to attain that geometry. It doesn't need much just a couple of wipes with a stone, that way there isn't much grinding to get it back to a positive rake.
