Wobbler for Kryn
Hi Kryn I have included a pic of the bits if you need it.
I just mount it in the toolholder that happens to be in the QCTP at the time. I remove the turning tool of course.
This way it is easy to do a vertical adjustment. The crosslide takes care of the horizontal adjustment.
It isn't necessary to get the rod (machined to a point both ends) to line up perfectly with the centre in the tailstock but it helps. The key is very little to no movement at the tailstock end.
To set up just clamp the unit in the toolpost and move the carriage towards the centre punch mark until the pointed end of the rod enters the mark and a bit further to compress the spring.
Then it's normal 4 jaw practice until the tailstock end stops moving.
If my maths was better I could tell you how much the error is decreased. Many many thanks to Baron for correcting my basic error.
Yet another thing to go under the old age banner.
Phil
