Help required for a Chinese 13 x 40 Lathe.
Recently purchased a chinese manufactured lathe, made in 2004 with a toolbox of gears and other tools found on closer inspection after I got it home that the change gears to cut threads were missing. The closest lathe I have found that matches it is the Grizzly G0732, same controls and features but slightly different gears of course. The local distributor of the machine does not want to know, they no longer sell that model and are no help at all. Perhaps someone on the forum will be in a position to advise me, the gears I need are the 60, 120 and 127 tooth ones.
Here is a photos of one of the ones I have. It is marked M1.25 Z40, the 40 is for the number of teeth.
Any information will be gratefully received.

Change gears for lathes can be problematic as they are rarely available as a spare part and always seem to get separated from the machine (why? - they are not much good for anything else...)
Some of us make our own as it is not difficult if you have the equipment to do it. Can you measure up that gear? Failing anyone closer being able to do it, or being able to do it quicker I can probably make up the missing gears. I have things on my list for Kryn, China, Eric and someone else I think (Welder may be?)) and won't be able to do anything for a few months I would think but can add you on there somewhere if you like.

Michael thank you muchly for your kind offer. Still trying to source some locally but if I fail I will get in touch. What i could do if we decide to go ahead is send you one of the gears I have got to help you match it.
Kind regards Col

If you have no feeds at all i would go out and buy some timing belt pulleys and a belt, I can bore them out and put keyways in if needed.

Pipeclay and Caskwarrior, at present I have the change gears on the lathe to handle the drive to the both the lead screw and the cross feed, I also have approx 15 other gears and the only ones I am missing are the threading ones, namely 120, 127 and 60 tooth gears. When I inspected the lathe I saw a toolbox full of gears all wrapped in the original brown wax paper and stupidly assumed that all was good. The lathe was ex a high school and I expect that over the years some of the gears have been misplaced.
Thanks for your comments and suggestions, perhaps someone has a suggestion as to where to source these things.

If the 0732 you refer to is really 0782 the 120/127 is an integral part of the gear train, you must have a few gears in it as is.
Have you tried Hare and Forbes or any of the other machinery dealers on the East coast.
If you can source the change gears you will probably need the bearing and associated fittings to go with it.
I like Michael can make them for you , although I don't think I would be able to do them as cheap.

Pipeclay. thanks for your reply, the gear train on the lathe atm is a 30, 100 and an 85 which is the one for feeds, I have approx 15 more cogs but none of the numbers required for thread cutting.
I would imagine that should I be able to source some I could remove the ones that are attached at the moment and plan the right ones in train so to speak.
Your offer to make some for me is much appreciated and could possibly what I have to do, what would be the approx cost please, I will firstly speak to Hare and forbes re the 120,127 gear as you are correct in that my lathe looks the same as the 0782 although the gear train is different and the manual for that lathe says it is only appropriate for the 2015 and later machines, so the search continues but now I certainly have some options thanks to you and Michael and Ralph,

Your lathe is perilously like mine.
