A camera with a point or spot exposure meter that will expose for the exact point on the flame you wish to see is what you need. Most consumer digitals will perform some kind of average exposure across the image and the sensor simply cannot handle the dynamic range of an oxy flame. A digital SLR camera with a macro/telephoto should be able to do this I would have a crack although I am very nervous about exposing mine to such an environment. If no one else does it I will ask the photo techy guys at work - they love this sort of thing - photography, sparks, noise etc.
Cheers

Apparently the heat of the burning metal is enough to keep heating the metal ahead of it - kind of like a metal firestorm!Have a nice day - Cheers

18th Oct 2007, 11:55 AM #33My camera is at work, but I'll bring it home on Tuesday and do it, if no one else can do it sooner.
I have tried to take clear pics with my camera, but I can't seem to get it right. I was using a happy snappy camera from work, as my MIL bent the card interface pins on my digi slr. If someone will foot the $425.00 bill for the camera repair, I can take the pics and send them to Graham. Any takers?????
