Alternate to Collet chuck for Lathe
I'm about to do a prototype run and this is my first time having to do a batch of parts on my lathe,
I need to make a bunch of the same parts from 35mm stock, and Im hoping to do it with reasonable efficiency.
my 3 jaw chuck wont give me the consistent concentric holding i need, and the 4 jaw will take ages, in the past i have used a collet chuck for this however a ER chuck wont go out to 35mm, and the jacobs style setups are all going to cost 1000s,
As Im only dealing with a single diameter I thought there may be a old toomakers trick for making some type of adapter for the 3 jaw? for quick and repeatable work holding?

You can make your own single use collets for use in a standard three jaw chuck.
A good example is shown in this clip:

You could make up soft jaws for the three jaw chuck.

What sort of lathe and chuck do you have?
You could loosen (almost loose) your mounting plate/chuck bolts and with the 35 mm stock in the chuck and an indicator you might be able to get the stock to run true with some well placed taps on the chuck with a rawhide hammer.
If the chuck is too tight on the mounting you might have to skim off half the amount of runout that you have.
If you dont want to spend the time sorting out your chuck alignment Hare and Forbes sell Gator chucks, .0005" repeatability/runout max they reckon.
cheers, shed

You could all things being equal, fit a 3 jaw inside a 4 jaw. My 250mm 4 jaw is rarely removed. I use with Er collet holders and 125mm 3 jaw. Alternatively a three jaw with two piece jaws can be modified into soft jaws.
