Does anyone know where to get small crenellated S/S washers?
What is a crenelated washer, I hear you ask?
Sort of like a Belleville washer but with tighter waves. If indeed they are called crenelated washers?
I am chasing them in 4,5,&6 mm IDs as the spring washer for scissor repairs. The butchers before me, mutilated the screw slot and it cannot be separated for sharpening.
I am forced to remove the butchered one and replace it.
A 4mm stainless button head socket with a matching crenelated washer top and bottom will sort it out.
I have emailed Keables but do not expect a reply till monday
The pic below is just an example, I have not repaired these particular scissors.

Thank you pipeclay,
I had google most of the day but did not have the correct search term.
Thanks to you, I found them under serrated contact washers at Hobson Eng. Aussie company
handling them for Schnoor who make them and yes, in stainless and yes, the small sizes that I seek.
They come in boxes of a 1000 so I should have enough for a while.
The local Blackwoods can get them. (eventually)

Nord-Lock washers, or Schnorr washers as I knew them ( Alfa's used them in high tensile, and cupped like a Belleville washer); Schnorr catalogue refers to them as 'safety washers'
'Crenated' I think are more like the square waveform found on Oil ring expanders

Thank you Nedshead,
You are the man
I received a reply from Keables and I thought that was it
( Good morning Grahame,
Thank you for your enquiry.
You have unearthed a ripper there, with a combined industry experience in excess of 300 years
in our office I can tell you it’s the first time any of us have seen or been asked for this type of washer!!!
Unfortunately we cannot assist, none of our suppliers carry these, in fact the only ones I came across were “Used” items on Ebay!
Good luck with your search.)
Thanks mate you are a gem! It will make my scissor repairs look that little bit better.
I shall order them forthwith.
Grahame
