It could be the blade you are using.
The blade I use is 6.35mm wide and I think about 6tpi, wider or finer blades may cause heat and therefore melting.Regards

No go with Delrin. Turned down a couple of inner bushes today, inserted the and found they compress - lots. Brass/bronze it is. Hate turning this stuff, so damn messy.

May I know why you decided against cast iron?
It is admittedly also messy, but very easy to machine.

Are you sure it’s Delrin? If it’s melting when you cut it and compressing under load, I reckon you might have HDPE or nylon.
