I take it a SIP wasn't the most pressing item some time back either![/QUOTE]

I was the losing bidder on the SIP. For those who did not see it, the machine in question was a SIP 7A jig borer sold by Holden earlier this year. Came with a large amount of accessories. I limited myself to $15000 landed Trundle. I would have loved to buy it but the logistics of moving it would have really tested me. Oversized and heavy and 1100 km away made it very difficult and expensive to bring home. Still would have loved it and would have completed the shed just nicely. Maybe next time

How are things going now Mark?

Things are starting to bite here now. Our usual supplementary feeding materials are becoming impossible to buy. I am hoping and expecting storms to start in a months time or less, whether it happens or not is another thing. At least we are heading into our wet season now, things are not fantastic, but not desperate either.

    Hi Richard
It is definitely moving into the desperate category here. Crops have all failed and feeding of stock continues at full pace. Feed is available but expensive. We sold half the sheep a couple of months ago and that has helped.
Away from the farm all is good. I only got home last night from my latest trip to Holden in Adelaide. Some months ago Holden put their 3 SIP jig borers up for sale and I was keen to buy the big 7A. Anyway was the losing bidder and thought that was the end of that. Anyway Holden advertise their final sale and up pops one of the jig borers. I give the auction company a ring and they say all the jig borers were brought by an Indian company for export but they never paid. So Holden decides to keep the 6A and the 7A and sell the older Hydroptic 6. They sweeten the deal by adding a lot of accessories and tooling and loading it for free. Obviously too good a deal to pass up. So a fully laden semi trailer later I finally get home late last night.
Have not had a chance to look at everything but multiple vices, 3 rotary tables, dividing head, angle plates, hundred plus drills up to 75mm, hundred plus milling cutters, full SIP cabinet plus sundries too numerous to mention. Basically it looks like they put everything left over and stuck it in a cabinet and put it with the borer.
Shed building continues slowly. The guy who I arranged to help me has developed a hernia and can’t work till after surgery. So I plod on by myself when I get a minute. But most weeks I get something done. Just need 10 days to the week
    Anyway more updates later

    Cheers

    Mark

Looks like a nice load there Mark. Thanks for the update, we've had 4" of rain so far this year incomparison of 7" last year, so it looks like it's dry everywhere.

Looks good, this is what I have been buying lately. Not sure what grade of carbide to turn it on the lathe.

Interesting! Can't remember the conditions of sale, assume there was a deposit required at close of bids and the Indians did their dough!
