Removing the Table?
Hi,
I want to take off the table of the milling machine for moving purposes. I haven't done it before on this machine. Wondering if anyone has?
If I take out the two screws (there's another one on the other side) for the plate that holds the traverse (Y travel) handwheel and leadscrew in place and wind out the leadscrew, will the table come off?
Ben.

The handles and assemblies there do need coming off. It isn't a high-risk scenario so you can keep taking stuff off there until you get what you need. Sometimes after taking stuff off you may need to reattach a handle to wind the screw out.
Loosen or remove the table gib as well, that can help free things up.
Tables can be heavy so take care sliding it off one side. You really want a table or something there at the same level to slide it off onto. As an example, I used a motorcycle lift recently for same:

I used a motorcycle lift as well to put the talble back on my mill. But i did use a engine crane to lift the table off with two slings from one end of the table and as you wind out the table push the slings in the center of the table.

As above posters have said, slide the table onto something the same height. If you don't, there is a risk of damaging or breaking off the dovetails as the table is moved off, if it is allowed to tilt

The little Hercus will be picked up tomorrow (sad day). Then I have to start getting the shed ready for the mill move.
I might attempt to take the table of this weekend. I don't have anything of comparable height so I might use the engine crane?
