Chip Breaker for the Diamond Tool Holder?
Has anyone attempted to grind a chip breaker for the HSS bit in the diamond tool holder?

Hi Topari.
I am not trying to pick a fight or upset you but 54 people have looked at your question and have mentally said 'What?'
Perhaps if you were to expand on what you hope to achieve and why you think you need a chipbreaker grind. Eccentric Engineering who developed the system have not mentioned a need for a chip breaker in their diamond tool.
Give us some background on what you are doing or hope to do. Details like to lathe you are using, the material, the diameter you are turning are all details that will help some experienced person who uses the diamond HSS system to in turn ,help you.
Cheers

I dont use the diamond toolholder but when I need to put fiddly chipbreakers in I use a Dremel with a diamond wheel on it. But the little grinding wheels work too.

I just think it's a funny question, because a compelling reason for having a tangential toolbit holder is ease of re-grinding.
But of course the question is reasonable nevertheless.

I have never ground one for my Diamond tool holder, but I seem to remember seeing an Eccentric Engineering video on youtube which has a chip breaker ground in.
Found the video.

Thanks Piers for digging that up, and to the OP for asking the question. Only makes the tool slightly more complex to grind IMO. Just 2 parallel faces, so unlike a normal tool you don't end up eventually having to start from scratch.
