Got a New Milling Machine...
Hi,
Pleased to say I got a new milling machine. After an epic 2100 km round trip to Vic, I picked up Wayne's Fuji milling machine. It took about 3 hours to load it onto my trailer (after taking the head off etc). After spending the coldest night I can remember at Goulburn I got home yesterday at lunchtime. After the loading the machine I realized I underestimated how heavy and how hard it was to load/unload the machine. I called my mate over who after one look let's get the HIAB over. Which we did, the unloading and initial moving went much smoother.
Its now sitting in my garage waiting to be moved into my workshop/shed out back. I'll keep the head off for the move and may possibly have to take the table off to fit it through the door. I have to move it over approximately 30 metres of grassed area. Most likely will have to do it the Egyptian way, using rollers and metal sheet. I then have to figure out how to get the head back on it in the shed area! Not much room in there.
Ben.

Egyptian way could work for this as well. Leave the head on the small pallet and build up a platform underneath it bit by bit using planks and a short crow bar. That's how I got the 4HP Dust Collect motor up underneath my dust extractor housing inside an enclosure with an entrance no bigger than a kitchen cupboard.
Removing the motor might make it easier but then you'd have to lift that up as well.

Hi Ben
Make sure you have enough room for drawbar removal.

There'll be enough vertical height for the milling machine with the head on, it's just getting the head back on that will be the problem. Probably won't be enough room for a engine crane in the shed with everything in it.
I haven't measured for the drawbar (didn't even think about it) but I'll make room - drill a hole in the roof if I have to.
I've started emptying out my work shed, trying to get rid of stuff I don't use/need anymore. I didn't realize how much crap I've collected over the years!
