Rust preventative paper
Hi all
Does any one know of a supplier for the rust preventative paper that used to be included in boxed items e.g. early Moore&Wright products

G'day China, have a look for vci paper on eBay, plenty of paper mostly from the UK. Quite a range of sizes and prices, as,well as complete rolls.

Found this on Brownells website if you're after a small lot. $9.99 for 10 sheets 12"square, or $24.99 for 50 sheets, US$ of course.

If you are not quick enough (1st July) similar paper can be obtained here.
Products - VCI Papers & Barrier Wraps - Australian Inhibitor
In the good old days it was referred to as VPI paper- Vapor Phase Inhibitor paper and cased, good quality handtools were wrapped in it. No rust spots on new tools then.

Hi China
Allright then I won't tell you I googled it.
But, if I did, I would have used the term "Vapour Phase Inhibitor" as that is what they called the stuff in the good old days.
All jokes aside, sometimes if you simply rephrase the search term or switch the words about, athe desired result can be found.

Have you tried brown paper and machine oil? Not perfect, but a shade cheaper.
Or brown paper and silicone oil.
Cheers

If you have a local Caterpillar dealer, might be worth just asking them if you can have the rust inhibiting paper that all their parts come wrapped in. I work at a dealer in Tassie and a majority of our parts come wrapped, some of which have over a square meter of paper, all of which just goes straight in the bin. I don't know how friendly they are over there, but may be worth a shot, especially for free!

There is a VCI plastic version of the paper but I can't find small amounts for sale. Usually sold as bags, some with ziplock closures, or long tubes. The place I once worked used lots to package aircraft parts being sent out to processors. Usually a blue colour so if you are dumpster diving you may find some.
