    Default Belt grinder build.

This is the finished belt grinder. Unfortunately, the motor simply doesn't have enough power to spin two belts so I redesigned it as a single belt grinder and did away with the idler drums. If in the future I come across a motor with a little more power, it's a simple matter to just add a drum to the lower left side and a swinging arm with tracker on at top left. The table is adjustable for angle and belts are available with grits ranging from 80 to 1000. I also added rubber feet to stop it dancing around on the table. I got a little careless when facing the table and took a large chunk out, I'll fix that later on. The motor spins the wrong way and swapping wires doesn't change its direction so I just put locking nuts on all spinning parts as a safety precaution.

Nice job. Did you build it from plans, U Tube or from your head?

Only work from plans in my head, design as I go. Lots and lots of cut, weld, try and cut, weld and try again until I'm happy. I do some rough drawings of parts but very rarely stick to the plan. Hardest part was getting the grommets in, bugger of a job, had to call in the missus!

Some new belts arrived this morning, 240 grit. Sharpened a HSS cutting bit, an absolute breeze to use and super sharp. Far, far better than a stone. The ker-thump every revolution from the join is a bit annoying though!
