I saw a wood lathe tooling system much like this around 30 years ago. Great for copy turning.

That wood have been Symtec Lathes, as I have one. There were several others that made a tool to do copy work, Woodfast was one.
It would be interesting to see how it went on steel, I think the You tube clip Jack posted, looks like aluminium? I could be wrong, as I'm always told I am!!!

The samples in the tray include steel, brass, and acrylic. I’ve seen it in the real world and I was impressed, not that that means much.

You have to watch the whole thing! He shows turning steel, stainless, titanium, copper and others.
Seems like a ripper of an idea!

    The unit is another winner.
Every new product Eccentric Engineering brings out, it is always awesome. I will have to save but its worth it.

    Ben,

The chuck body looks like it's purpose made for the Acute. It has a small diameter ER16M nut.

If you were simply after an ER16M chuck they are in cheap abundance on eBay with a variety of arbor sizes.

Yes it is a smaller nut from memory to allow the system table not to collide with the nut.

I'm looking at getting a Collet chuck for my hercus lathe. AMWH makes them but Mal is out of stock for some time due to the move down south. I'm thinking of just getting a Hercus backing plate and a ER32 adapter plate.

Is yours an imperial screwed lathe? If so, make your own. Cool little project, not too hard at all.

I’m also after an ER collet chuck for my hercus 260. I’m hoping Mal will make some in ER40 next time (hint, hint). DIY not an option as I can only cut metric threads.

The last time I spoke to Mal (about a month or so a go) he said he won't be manufacturing much until the premises is up and running.

I have the metric 260 with imperial spindle thread. So to cut the imperial thread I'd have to buy the transposing gear. Which I should look at doing. I'm also thinking of upgrading my lathe.

    Default Variation on Turnado

Did some googling on the turnado

Found a similar discussion on MEW

    Somebody there posted this video

    https://youtu.be/IEsSS5KwZ9E

Interesting ...... he simply lays the toolsteel flat on the table ........ I think its a fairly hefty lump of toolsteel ........... I think he can easily adjust his table height ..... that bloke has a few interesting videos up on youtube.

My birthday soon ...... no prizes for guessing what I'm gonna get myself. Would be simply brilliant for turning out consistent chess pieces especially with the copying jig and templates.

I watched a you tube video they other day, a DiRestore (I think) and he did some freehand turning with HSS blanks on brass. Pretty wild I reckon.
