CC Engineering TCG belt drive
My Model D TCG arrived with Z section V belt 2 speed pulleys rather than the flat belt drive with which I believe the Model D was originally equipped.
The axes of the spindle and the motor are not parallel, they are about 1.8° out of true, there are no adjustments, its all in how the castings were machined. The motor is what seems to be the original CP 3ph 2850 motor. The shafts are closer together at the drive end and further apart on the work side. The out of parallel doesn't do much for belt life, its a bit of a PITA.
I'm assuming the out of parallel is part of the design and not a machining error and its something to do with the original flat belt drive. Have I got that right? Any thoughts?

I am guessing it is to stop the flat belt coming off the pulley, on much larger machines you normally put a twist in the belt which achieves the same result

Ther must be some way to tension the belt. Could you modify that to correct the motor mount angle? e.g. using shims or filing slots or something like that to change the pivot angle of the motor mount?
