    Aaron.

Come on mate, a member of your long standing should understand that our members need a bit more info than that.

Machining could encompass either a lathe or a mill. The work may be simple but I am sure most of those considering any work would like an idea of what that work should be as in refacing a flange or a machining a bore or whatever it is.

What the dickens is canida? Google reckons it is Canada misspelt.

I am sure most would welcome some more information.

    Cheers

    Grahame

I'm trying to work out if Aaron's that desperate for work, that he's gone to Canida or he's moved over there?

    Default details

    good point Graham
The pump is an aluminum bodied diaphragm pump.
The pipe fitting that connects the suction pipe work has broken off.
Its a grey water pump that is driven by a 32v motor via a toothed belt.
i was thinking a effective repair wold be to tap or machine a thread into the pumps body.
1” suction port. and turn a matching pipe fitting to screw into the female thread.
the pump is 40 years old and i believe no spares are available. there are 4 of these pumps onboard
The ship im working on. The spare is now unserviceable .
i can’t post any photo at the moment as we at sea. We pull into victoria harbor soon.
    When i say ship i mean 80’ aluminum ketch/research vessel .
The pumps are very quite when running and one is under the timer floor in the captains cabin and one in my cabin.
So the quite operation of these pumps is part of why i would like to keep them operating.
I thought id ask here before trying a commercial machine shop.

hi Kryn how are you? im not desperate for work but my work some times takes me to far off places .
Which i dont mind this adventure started in Honolulu . i probably stay on for a few months and try check out the local wild life.

Hi Aaron, I didn't realise that your work takes you all over the world. What is it that you do?? Maybe ask the Captain to buy a small lathe and mill, so that you can facilitate repairs at sea.
