Thread: Taps/tap follower

Ok a question, I have seen many video's were the use of a tap follower is employed to aid in keeping the tap straight, I must
have a 150 taps and none of them have a center in the end to be used with a follower, is there a special type of tap that I should be looking for

I suppose ones that have a centre.
You could just use a tee handle tap wrench if you have the room.

As pipeclay suggests, use a T handled tap wrench with a centre in the rear.

I've made these little gizmos in a few different sizes, big end goes in the chuck/collet little end goes in the back of the tap wrench. For the T handle tap holder I've made a slip on cap, little end goes in the chuck.
