DTI Mounting Arm
My Mitutoyo DTI came with a 8mm square mounting arm and I have no idea how it's meant to be used. A search of Google images didn't produce any images of this type of arm in use. I assume it's meant to be mounted in a QCTP holder, but that seems to a bit limiting given that it wouldn't be adjustable (other than fore and aft with the cross-slide screw). Am I on the right track?

I would just fab up something that suits my own needs. It is usually compatible with the mounting hardware that I already have.Sections of cold rolled 10 and 12mm square make ideal multi position fittings.

I think you will find in does not have a specific use, although it could be fixed in a tool post or any other convenient method

I have never used any of my square arms like that, and I only ever use the rectangular ones in a height gauge. The rest of the time I wander around holding a metric boss dial indicator looking for the right clamps of vice versa slowly going mental.

Thanks for the replies. It looks like Mitutoyo included the arm to confuse me. Perhaps it’s some sort of Japanese IQ test?

Could be handy for mounting a dial gauge to the tool post to check for concentricity of parts.
