What grit stone for scraping?
Hey all just wondering if you do metal scraping and if so what sort of stone is good for deburring afterwards?

I use a Norton fine slip stone, before that I used a fine diamond stone. It doesn't matter what you use really, just as long as it's relatively fine and you don't over stone the work. The ideal would be some precision ground stones, but mine are a bit large for that. What you're aiming for is to knock the burrs off without affecting the overall geometry.

Enco. They don't exist any more. Just Google a supplier here or buy through Amazon.

You can get the stones from mcmaster carr in the US if you have a US postal address for forwarding. Though, I'm no expert (no scraping experience at all - so I'll defer to others here) but Connolly just uses a 'burr file'. After reading his book I made one from an old file (took 10 minutes) and it is one of the handiest things in the workshop. No harm or scratches to anything except the burrs and when there are none you can hear the difference in sound it makes as it 'whistles' across the surface.
