Yes, true. But where is the fun in that? Yours will have MUCH stronger rollers and instead of 1mm capacity, you will have maybe 2mm capacity at full width and the rigidity to do thicker stuff in narrower width. I believe the limits are the gears you end up using. So find some nice LARGE tooth pitch gears with good width - with just the right diameter to fully engage with the rollers down to minimum you want to be able roll, but enough tooth engagement at the thickest you are likely to encounter (maybe 3.2mm). You should have a much better tool than the $400 Chinesium one....
I'll go and take some more photos of mine shortly.

Yeah for sure, i'd still have a go at making one and seeing you have all the machinery to do so i'm sure you could come up with something much much better. I'd even go as far as adding a motor to it with a foot controller, wouldn't cost that much extra if you scrounge around.
