Thread: Vintage clamps.

You would think that, about the force needed. But often people will not think and wreck good tools.
I would guess that half the clamps in the country no matter where they are, industrial workshop or hobbyist shop, they will be bent due to using a lever on them.
If you do not happen to have an old shockie about a hi-tensile bolt will work pretty well.(note to Mrs -see! this why I don't chuck stuff away)
I am under pressure as of this very moment to clean up and throw stuff-watch out gents-they get a council dump voucher in their hands and turn into a cleaning nazi.
The bent handle thing is one of the things that annoy me with people misusing clamps. The other being, to use the clamp on a weld or tack up job and not shield the thread from spattering.
It takes some time to clean up a badly spattered clamp if it can be repaired successfully at all.
Many of the better ones have a square thread and no matter how much you try to remove the spatter deposit there is always a bit left over that buggers up the feel of the thread and makes it so much harder to wind up.
