    Default BS-5 Bandsaw table

In another thread Electrosteam made mention about his BS-5 bandsaw.

A few years back Rob (Nearnexus) posted some information about a better table for the BS-4 -Basically it is the generic Rong Fu base model.

We were on a bit of a bandsaw mods series of threads at the time and I have used some of the ideas and have pics of others.

The trick was to chuck the old sheet metal table and make a small table out of 5-6mm aluminium plate which did not need removal/replacement but neatly fitted into the deck base profile when in the horizontal mode.

Hoping to be helpful I have posted some pictures and diagram below of that and variations which I believe may be useful to you and perhaps other members.

Of course the table was made for the BS-4 and not the BS-5 but I believe it would take little modification to make it fit.
The diagram shown is just there to give an idea on hole centers and you need to do a bit of cardboard template work to achieve the fit in closed (down) position.

Believe it or not the table while appearing small, works very well once the operator gets used to it. Behind the Multitool linisher the bandsaw is now the next most used power tool in the shed.

I assume you mean the BS-5S as there is also a BS%v now. The BS5S comes with a largish table but the saw can't be used horizontally with the table on, a bummer; however, the cut out as depicted is a good idea, I'll see if I can use this idea on mine as I quite often use it vertically.

I was in Hafco Melbourne a week or so ago and had a look at the BS-5V, looks quite well made for a portable, cast iron base rather than a sheet metal base.

    Oops,
I wasn't helpful at all then.

I didn't check the BS-5 was a swivel job then.

    Sorry about that guys.

I wouldn't say that, I never use the table because with the table on the saw can't be used in the horizontal, your plate with the cutout makes it possible. Put your mind to work and come up with an adjustable table; unfortunately, the tables on bandsaws don't sit square with the blade. Another one of those jobs I've never got around to.
