Always Good to Meet another Forum member
Hi all,
Yesterday I met up with Shedhappens. He was kind enough to invite me over to use his surface plate to spot in my newly aquired straight edge. It's great to be able to put a face and personality to a name and all the posts you read.
After several cycles of blueing I came to the conclusion it was pretty flat and any attempt to attack it with a biax or handscraper would have us chasing our tails. The diagonal dimensions of the SP were roughly 1200 leaving a fair amount of the 1800mm SE hanging off at either end. Apart from some scratches and possibly a local low spot, it looked pretty good. Realistically, probably good enough for me.
After that it was coffee time and we spent the rest of the day talking projects and looking at Sheds machines. It was a relaxing day well spent. Thankyou Shed and your wife for your kind hospitality. Lets do it again some time.
Special big thankyou to Bruce (argeng) for lending me his biax, at very short notice I may add too. So thanks Bruce!

SimonGirl, I don't wanna know about your mild-mannered alter ego or anything like that." I mean, you tell me you're, uh, super-mega-ultra-lightning babe? That's all right with me. I'm good. I'm good.

O.K. For the benefit of the rest of us, which one of you blokes is the scruffy looking one and which one is the baldy old git?
Supplementary question: Was the photo taken after a very pleasant long lunch, washed down with plenty of fine ales?
Rob.

Neither of you Gentlemen look like I imagined you would. While this thread is about meeting Forum Members, I had the pleasure of meeting Eric lamestllama last Saturday, and spent about an hour with him and his good lady Cathy. It's great to be able to put a face to a name.

What were you expecting, a couple of supermodels wearing string bikinis?
Simon

I have to admit that l thought that l looked pretty dapper in that photo, that morning l thought that l had better have wash seeing that l was to get a visitor so l stood under the waterfall for a couple of minutes then l found some threads without holes burnt in them, then l pushed the broom around the shed floor and while doing so thought that l would go the extra mile so while sucking the swarf off some machines with the vac l even sucked the varmints and swarf outta my beard.
Just goes to show that you can put lipstick on a pig but that sure don't make a princess eh !
All BS aside tho, every time l have met a member from the forum l have enjoyed the time and always seem to glean a bit more knowledge.
cheers, shed
