Restoring Old Embossing Press
Hey all,
I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, but I was given this old hand operated paper embosser, and its pretty ceased up. Anyone have any advice on where to start?
Thanks in advance!

By the way, the stamp reads:
A.H. HEISEY & COMPANY NEWARK, OHIO (outer band)
INCORPORATED IN WEST VIRGINIA (inner)

Just ideas:
Leave it for a month in some mild acid, say a diluted molasses bath?
Then try penetrating fluid, heat, gentle movement.
If stubborn, might have to remove the hinge pin for more access to tap down on the plunger.

Hi Cody, welcome to the forum.
I agree, soak it in molasses and water for a few weeks, it might sound strange but it works amazingly well.Regards

Thanks I will get some molasses! I was looking at the hinge pin, I'm not even sure how that comes apart. I was thinking it was kinda mushroomed after they inserted it, making it permanent...

You might want to remove the stamp die if possible before giving it a bath. The Brass will eat away faster than the steel.
