I Need Help From The Brains Trust.............................
Over the last 5 or 6 years one of my looong term projects has been restoring a late 1960's ex school Sheraton lathe.
It's one with the lot, stand, flood coolant, Norton style gear box etc etc etc.
It hasn't been high on my list of priorities as it's not my main lathe, only a project I picked up to keep me busy..
Anyways,
I have had to re make the power feed draw bar for the saddle. I have 99% of of done, but I would like some advice on how you Gents would go about cutting the Butterfly slots.
Photos below should show and explain what I am trying to say.
Thanks in advance.

Form cutter in a horizontal or vertical spindle.
Cut the slot , then rotate a vertical hard mill spindle to desired angle the use a slot or end mill.
Hold the shaft in a vice you can angle.

Hey Pipeclay,
Thank you so much for your reply, it had not even dawned on my to grind up a form tool.
One of those mental blank moments on my part there. Sometimes the simplest way is staring you in the face....
Here is a quick photo of the finished product, it works well.
Now onto the next part of this resto.
Thanks again,
