The 2017 World's Biggest Car Boot Sale
Hi,
Is anyone going to the 2017 World's Biggest Car Boot Sale in Newcastle this year?
I've never been but the wife said we could go so I can't wait. Not sure what to expect. Probably heaps of junk but gotta be some treasure!

Living in the Newcastle area we went to one of these. Only once though. That should tell you something.
Is it the "worlds biggest car boot sale"? Probably not. In fact on the occasion we went there were not many sellers actually using their car boots. Most of the sellers were "professional" market sellers selling the same old "stuff" that you can find at most markest/swap meets these days.
Sorry to sound pessimistic, but if you are travelling up from Sydney you might be dissapointed.
You might be better going to a big swap meet closer to home.
Edit - Ive just had a look at the promo you linked to. The venue has been changed since we went so maybe they are trying to make it live up to the name.

Hi Peter,
We're living on the Central Coast now so the travel isn't a problem. But I know what you mean about "professional" sellers, if I wanted that I'd go to Parklea Markets. There's a Trash and Treasure at Prestons (SW Sydney) that's 50/50 with Pro sellers and actual regular people I used to go to. A lot of junk but I found some really good treasure (to me anyway - not the wife).
I hope the one at Newcastle isn't too commercial.

I hope your day is not wasted. Cessnock swap meet is pretty big. 20 years ago it was mainly backyard blokes selling car and bike stuff but over the years I have noticed that it has changed to include a lot of "dealers" selling all sorts of bric a brak. As I'm not into old cars anymore I havent been for the last couple of years.

At the car swap meets these days, many of the sellers are trying to sell stuff nothing to do with vintage cars or bikes. Bendigo was the the premier vintage car swap in Australia, I don't go anymore because of the rows of pot plants and crockery or bric a brac. Plus the huge amount of 1960's to 80's car parts which should be thrown away in the rubbish tip.

Well, I went to the car boot sale. Should of been called the World's Biggest Waste of Time instead. Yesterday's weather didn't help, hardly any sellers turned up and the ones who did where mainly professional sellers who wanted high prices for junk. Hardly any tools. I did get a 3" g clamp and large outside caliphers and a jar of chilli jam.
I don't think I'll go next year.
Ben.
