    Default Auto logout

Is anyone else having issues with being logged out after a period of inactivity? It might be an iPad problem, but at the moment it is driving me bonkers. If I close the iPad while having tea for example, when I go to resume, I find that I have to log in again to see any images or to have unread posts appear as bold in the lists of forum posts. It also happens if I leave the forum to check mail or eBay listings, and then return to the forum, not every time but all too often. It never used to happen, except if I rebooted the iPad or my iMac when at home, but now I have to re log in 4 or 5 times a night over about a three hour period. I'm not sure if it's a forum issue or an iPad problem, but if anyone has a suggestion, I would really appreciate a heads up on possible solutions. Thanks in advance,
    Rob.

It'll more than likely be the IPAD settings. I had the same problem with my ASUS a couple of weeks ago, took me a little while to work out what settings, but eventually I fixed the problem. Problem is, I can't remember how. These things. Are sent to try us, not to mention annoy!

maybe check Privacy and Security under "advanced" settings of the internet browser. Sometimes it blocks cookies, this is where it stores user information for the site.

If you're using Chrome check the advanced settings. I also had this problem with my PC quite a while ago. The problem lies with updates I believe: every time your PC is updated the updates change some setting or other. I've disabled auto updates so I don't have the problem anymore. Once again, can't remember what I changed only that it was under Chrome's advanced settings - I think. If your not using Chrome, it will still be under settings in whatever browser you're using.

Thanks to all who responded,I am on the move again and will delve into settings if we stop in a spot with coverage tonight. I will report on any successes I have. The browser is Safari on the iPad if that is useful info to any Apple tech people viewing this thread. Thanks again,
    Rob.

No Sacc51, it is important to enable the windows update, especially with latest windows and windows defender definitions come with the update.

For most of the internet browser it should be under Settings>Advanced>Contents Settings>Cookies, you can enable what to cache, what not
For Ipad its under Settings>Block cookies>then you have a few options in there to choose.

A bit off the topic but you need to go in the cookies to delete the bank site, Paypal...all the time just in case you machine is attached by hackers. Also don't put the password or creditacard number into any site with "http" only as all data are sent in clear text. with "https" data will be encrypted.

Ditto. I'm using Safari on a Mac. On the iPad and iPhone I use Tapatalk, so I don't know if the problem repeats on those devices when using Safari.

Thanks again fellows, hopefully suggestions from sacc51 and jackaroo may have been on the mark. On the iPad I went into settings> then checked block cookies, but it was set to " only accept cookies from sites I visit" which I left as it was as I felt that all should be good with that. I then went further down the list to " Clear history and website data" and cleared that lot. I thought that I may have lost all viewing history from sites like "YouTube" but my usual YouTube creators still pop up, and the sort of content that interests me, like metalwork or Jay Lenos car collections, WW2 aircraft restorations etc still is top of their suggested viewing for me, so that data must rest with YouTube.
So far I have stayed logged in so I'm hoping that we might have had a win. Thank you all for your help,
    Rob.
