Missing 3 jaw chuck
This is probably a long shot but worth a try.
I acquired an AL-1440 lathe at the recent Graysonline Careers Australia auction at Salisbury Qld.
When I got home I realised that the 3 jaw Gator chuck was not with the lathe. I have the set of reverse jaws for it.
I returned a few days later and tried to find the chuck but no luck.
In the remote chance that some other AL-1440 purchaser has the extra 3 jaw, the ID number is 129582.
If anyone can help, I would be most grateful and we could come to a mutually beneficial arrangement.
Thanks, Kevin

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is the lathe you bought
http://www.graysonline.com/lot/0012-7017216/
It lists a 3 jaw chuck in the description but is no where to be found in the photos, I did an inspection and the 3 jaw was no where to be found and was not with any of the other lathe's.
Good luck with your search, not sure if you have any recourse through Grays for the incorrect listing or if they will just palm it off as they put up photos and gave you an opportunity to inspect.
That auction was a real gamble, some of the machines had been abused or had issues, that one apart from the missing chuck appeared in pretty good condition tho.

Ive had tooling go missing before pickup that I didn't notoce till I looked at photos when I got home. Others I have challenged when I have picked up as they stated 50 taper but was 40 taper. They refunded me no probs when identified at pickup. Now I am meticulous in checking everything. Tooling is a risk as its easy for another buyer to grab some tools and throw them in his pile....

Often, a drill chuck (for the tailstock) has three jaws - if they wanted to argue the point

They did at the start of that sale have lots of lathe and mill tooling for sale as different lots.
These lots included the lathe chucks steadies etc, the mill lots included the horizontal arbors etc.
A few days latter before the end of the auction these lots were removed but no additional information was listed for inclusions for the lathes and mills.
