One pretty big design fail - the bench clamping webs should have been half way down the length of the vise rather than directly below the fixed jaw. Then he would have been able to hang the vise over the edge of the bench and clamp long items vertically.
Also goes on to paint it with some awful blue Hammerite clone, which is a crime against all that crisp machine work.

Not sure if I got this right but i notice he heat treated the serrated jaws, which seems reasonable, but I didn't see him temper them after. Does this mean they were left in the super hard/brittle state?
