I purchased a stack bright steel from Bolher in Melbourne for every thing except ends and feet.

    1020 50.00 X 10.00 X 1,000 MM FL BRIGHT 4 KG $24.00

    1020 75.00 X 10.00 X 1,000 MM FL BRIGHT 6 KG $33.00

    1020 25.00 X 10.00 X 1,000 MM FL BRIGHT 2 KG $16.00

    1020 100.00 X 10.00 X 1,000 MM FL BRIGHT 8 KG $44.00
    Plus GST and Includes Delivery

plus the ends at $116 plus some odds n ends I had lying around here.

Black flat would be cheaper again of course.

So happy someone saved all the dxf files, I lost them all on a computer crash 5 plus years ago, and then found all the original uploaded pictures and files were gone, awesome jobs folks.

The original purpose of this unit was really just to bend up small panels for doing car rust repairs.

1.6mm mild steel full length is a bit to much for this unit, smaller sections work okay, but it's all about the finger angle as others have mentioned, the steeper the angle the better it folds and grips, the lower the angle the more she will tend to slip.

You folks make my original design look great.

    incredibly good work...

I think I might build one. Do I just have to give the school file to the Stella's place to be lazer cut?

Azzrock...a printed file is not the way to do it. They need a autocad file DXF? so they can just up load into their system and away they go. Else they will need to have someone draw in autocad or similar and then upload into the laser...all extra time and money.

Also try a getting a group together for laser cut...i reckon the more there are the cheaper it will be per each person?
I say this as 1 end was going to cost just over $100, but 2 only cost $116.

Do you need the autocad files? if so Pm me your email and I can send files. YOU will need autocad or similar or Autocad Reader to view.

Thank you for the offer of a copy of the files again, the fact someone has them is awesome, and they are willing to openly reshare them - thumbs up..

I have not seen the Bramley link, only perchance was I linked to this one.

The very first copy folder I saw ever made, was made by a gentleman by the name of Rod Mell over here in perth, I must say his attention to detail and craftmanship made me all warm that I had shared my design. You folks do a sensational job and have taken the quality of the product to a whole new level.

    Shallower or steeper angle?

A shallower angle as Bob indicates should allow more surface contact of the fingers, but more stress on the clamping leaf angle?, where as a steeper angle will give less stress on clamping leaf and less contact with fingers?..or am I missing something...anyway...what is best angle and why! etc.

Well I can confidently say they have copied my design, why, because I made the design from scratch, I made it when I was in the military in sydney i joined in 1988, it was one of what we called at he time a "foreigner jobs"m that is I made it at.work during work time.....I altered it as I was making it, I used hacksaw blades and a milling machine I put it on this forum in 2007 as freeware because I posted a picture of something I had made in my shed, and a forum member asked where I got the pan brake from, explained I had made it and then decided to draw it in cad and give it free to people so they could make there own. I did a step by step tutorial in the drawing of each stage on the main woodworking forum.

Totally awesome someone made a commerical version, how much do they sell it for?

Thought it looked familiar when I was over at Machinery house last weekend. Wonder how much of it is actually the same.

The funny thing, I made the unit using scotch keys to hold the parts together, this to me as a layman was far easier to do than making a broached key, which if IMO I had ever thought of doing as a commerical build, I would have simply used a broach to do all the mechanical joins, but the bramley appears to use my scotch keys as well. Bwahaha, that was done purely because of my laziness...
