    Default Broens engineering auction Adelaide

Thought I better post the photos of my haul.

    Optical tilting rotary table

I got 2 dividing heads as well .the big one is a Cincinnati, and I'm pretty sure smaller one is a vertex bs2.

This is a diaform attachment for profile dressing grinding wheels. I don't know if it is complete or if it will fit my grinder, but it was cheap.
I also bought the camelback straight edge but I forgot to take a photo of it.

Broens Adelaide operation was bought by a local engineering company and they were auctioning off equipment surplus to their needs. I snuck a pic of the giant CMM.

Nice haul. If the diaform does not fit, drop me a message as I could use one on my J&S.

That would explain the lack of decent equipment in the auction.

After seeing the Sydney listing and comparing it to the Adelaide one, I was thinking the Adelaide operation was just a run down facility doing mostly steel fabrication.

You did not buy the butler slotter? It looked a handy sized unit.

I didn't buy the slotter I think it made $1800+bp. I already have a hercus slotter.

The table is about 16" dia. Umm I don't actually have a machine that is big enough to use it on, guess I'll have to buy oneBroens engineering auction Adelaide. It was an impulse buy, It might end up as a bench ornament in my metrology room when I build it.

Bought one of those OMT optical tilting rotary tables on eBay a few years, it was an absolutely magnificent piece of gear. Turned out it was way too tall and heavy for the table of my Hafpos HM52 though so it went back on eBay.

    Good haul.

A really nice selection of gear there. When I saw the picture of that rotary table, it did cross my mind that it would need a pretty substantial machine to put it on.

I ended up trading my OMT for a decent chunk of cash and an 18" stroke Alba shaper. The man who now has it owns a biggish jig borer so better with him than me.

Next trick, trade the shaper for something useful....

I have a 12" tilting rotary table for my jig borer and you need a crane to pick it up. That one must weigh a couple hundred kilo's or so. Beautiful though

Most of the other stuff there went for reasonable money. The manual mazak lathe with 440mm swing went for $6000. there was a rough old makino machining center that went for $7500 which i thought was pretty dear. The Big CMM that was in the metrology room went for $3000 and the rough old bench top one, that appeared incomplete and was in their storage shed went for $1250. couldn't work that one out. there was a okamoto surface grinder that looked in really good condition that only went for $6750, i thought that was fairly cheap. Overall i thought the prices people were paying were pretty good considering the way the industry is going here, but i'm pretty sure a dealer bought most of the manual machines to export overseas.
