Great Stuff DSEL74,
Thank you for posting it. That little set is really something.
What a great craft project it would make to reproduce this tool set.
Is there a story behind it?

Metal work for beginners, start 'em young
Grahame, No not mine I wish it was.
However I do have a few of those old vices, and would like to forge one from scratch one day. I also have some of the hand vices, similar hammer and a small anvil. I'm restoring the woodworking workbench and "real tools" my Grandfather made me when I was 4yrs old for my Daughter who is only 6wks old. I'm inspired to collect up or make her a little metal work toolbox as well.
From my research there were a few juvenile toolboxes produced but nearly all I have found were woodwork focussed with maybe a set of pliers being the only metal work tool. I'm wondering if the tools shown here actually came in the box or were collected seperately?…..Live a Quiet Life & Work with your Hands

Hi Dale, have a couple of the Hand Vises if you'd like a couple more, similar to the last 2 pics above?? Can do some pics of them if you like. They're just taking up bench space in the shed!!

My guess would be that it was a carpentry set originally.
The picture on the interior of the box lid is telling.
It shows the box lid contains dividers, square and compass.
Back right figure using a plane, left figure with hammer and chisel.
Not sure the pincers/tongs and great big side axe in the foreground would have fit in the box!
MarkWhat you say & what people hear are not always the same thing.

Picked up an egg beater drill for the kiddos kit I'm putting together yesterday.
Cost me a whole $1
Thought it might have been toy from one of these kits but saw 4 more through out the day. Nobody seemed to think I was right.…..Live a Quiet Life & Work with your Hands
