buying fasteners in Adelaide
A mate of mine in Adelaide is looking for a few m6 studs around 140mm long (for motorcycle cylinder). Does anyone know any where in SA that he could get them from?
Thanks heaps

Most studs are custom made for the application so will be hard to find. If you can get away with threaded rod most of the places below should stock m6 hi tensile threaded rod, beware the minimum purchase is $10-15.

Universal fasteners have changed their name to Konnect and moved to Wingfield. They now have a $25 minimum order.
Another option is United fasteners on Cavan road. Popular because they do not have a minimum order value.

The worst that can happen is you will fail.
But at least you tried.

What sort of bike? They sound like the length required for cylinder head retention - and struggle to imagine anything other. Even on a 50cc, smallest I've seen used is 8mm..usually something can be made to work from another oem in that case.
If it is a head, thread in a joint that sees cyclic loading, probably not something to recommend, if it sees much use.

Hi Hunch,
Yes its the cylinder head bolt! 125cc, 1952 Lambretta. The later models are using m7 and m8. One of them on his is broken but I guess he wanted to keep it period.
Regards,
Trong

Interesting, must be fairly low comp - probably fuel related post war. Would have thought with 3 Italian scooter booms over the decades I can think of, plus likely thousands, if not tens of thousands sold, must be a supply out there somewhere. I might even go bolt and timesert the cases if desperate and nothing available.

The compression ratio is 6.5:1 for it Hunch (2 stroke). He found a place in UK who could supply them so that is a relief if he has to get them in.
